Singapore, 5 June 2015 – Telekomunikasi Indonesia International Pte Ltd (Telin Singapore), today announces during its groundbreaking ceremony the commencement of the construction of a 20,000 square metre, five-storey Data Centre and Telecommunication Hub located at Singapore’s Data Centre Park (DCP) in Jurong.

This new facility will be the third data centre owned and managed by Telin Singapore, a wholly-owned subsidiary of PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia International (Telin) which in turn is fully owned by Indonesia’s largest telecommunications group PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia, Tbk (Telkom Group). Telin Singapore’s existing data centres are located in Changi and Tai Seng.

The new facility, to be branded as Telin-3, will address the growing demand for premium data centre services to support Singapore’s Smart Nation vision, and also demand from the region and global markets where Telin Singapore is able to play a pivotal role in providing reliable, secured and seamless regional and global telecommunications connectivity services.

Ms. Rini M. Soemarno, Minister of State Owned Enterprises of Indonesia and Minister Lee Yi Shyan, Senior Minister of State for Trade and Industry and National Development of the Republic of Singapore, jointly officiated the groundbreaking of Telin-3 today at DCP in Jurong.

Telin-3 will be completed by the third quarter of 2016. This facility will be built to meet multi-tier design, construct and operate to meet mission critical and high power computing applications and operational requirements. Telin-3 will be able to provide highly reliable, secured, redundant, fault tolerance and concurrent maintainability for mechanical cooling and power systems.

Commenting on Telin-3, Mr. Alex J. Sinaga, Group CEO of PT Telkom Indonesia, said: “Telin Singapore Data Center and Telecommunication Hub will strengthen Telkom Group’s strategic initiatives for international expansion. Our investment in Telin-3 will solidify Telin Singapore’s position as a strategic hub for Telkom Group to connect Indonesia to the rest of the world.”

Ms. Septika Noegraheni Widyasrini, CEO of Telin Singapore, said: “Today’s groundbreaking ceremony for Telin-3 marks an important milestone for Telin Singapore. Telin-3 is our second partnership with EDB, IDA and JTC after our first facility in Changi. Telkom Group has invested heavily in the last few years to build and to acquire strategic assets and now we will house our existing and future infrastructure at Telin-3 upon completion.”

Khoong Hock Yun, Assistant Chief Executive, Development Group, IDA, said: “Telin Singapore’s third data centre in Singapore is testament to Singapore’s position as the leading telecommunications and data management hub in the region. The backbone of the digital economy, data centres provide key digital infrastructure for Singapore’s Smart Nation vision, enabling digital activities such as cloud computing and data analytics. IDA, in collaboration with JTC and EDB, will continue to support the establishment of premium data centres that will enhance Singapore’s position as the digital capital of Asia.”

The data centre market in Southeast Asia is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate of 18.05 per cent from 2014-2019, driven mostly by increased demand for cloud computing and big data analytics, according to TechNavio, a leading global technology research and advisory company. This growth is propelled by higher expectation of improved technological delivery as the region continues to be saturated with digital technology and Internet connection.
